Gothaplast was founded in May 1944 in the cultural and court residency town of Gotha by the Swiss pharmacist Hans C. Wirz, son-in-law of Carl Blank, as a subsidiary of the company Carl Blank KG Verbandpflasterfabrik (Plaster Factory) (Bonn on the Rhine).
Since January 1, 2002 the town of Gotha honours the personal achievement of Hans C. Wirz and has renamed the road leading to the company premises to his name.
Hans C. Wirz passed away in the year 1999 at a high age. He maintained continuous contact to his former employees, although there was later no longer any financial connection.
